Reflection note I would say that the most useful thing for me was to remember the structure of the five paragraphs essay. Since I fond of writing I was really glad to know a bit more about this field. In addition, I discovered such an interesting Internet source as Guardian. It turned to be quite noteworthy newspaper, and I found a lot of educational information reading articles of the authors from different countries. It was very entertaining to know an opinion on some significant worldwide problems from the point of view of people with other cultural values. During the semester we were working in our own blogs a little bit, and I guess, it was not that necessary. As someone had technical problems with the website, I would say it would...
Essay After reading the article « ‘This is supposed to be a rich country’: volunteers on the reality of food bank Britain» ( https://www.theguardian.com/society/2018/dec/19/this-is-supposed-to-be-a-rich-country-volunteers-on-the-reality-of-food-bank-britain ) which is devoted to such an acute social problem as food poverty, I decided to think it over. Since middle class runs in our society, well-off people mostly do not consider about those who are not able to provide themselves. There are many different reasons why some citizens are on the breadline, and not all of them are depend on the person. That is why some sympathetic to other’s misery people organize food banks. On the one hand, someone may say this idea is not that good, as it seems. As people that come to food bank are just lazy and do not want to change their life. It is enough for them to take free food and waste little amount of money on alcohol or drugs. Someone may say this way of life is completely fault of the...
The article written by Elena Ferrante is called «‘I devote myself to plants. Is it because I am afraid of them?’». The author devotes our attention to such an inconspicuous thing in our daily life as a plant. She analyzes how much she loves them and take care of them wishing to do only the best. And at the same time Elena Ferrante draw the reader’s attention to the point that flowers are prisoners: «They can’t move, they can’t seek shelter, they can’t escape clippers, hatchets, saws». Nevertheless, the author admires that plants have in themselves a blind force that doesn’t fit with their cheerful colours, their pleasing scents. There is an example of images of burning forests at the movies or on television that shows how the life evaporates. That's why Elena Ferrante admits she is afraid of plants: they are symbolisms that apply to any form of life.
Belief is back: why the world is putting its faith in religion   Allen Lane https://www.theguardian.com/books/2018/oct/05/belief-is-back-societies-worldwide-faith-religion This article drew my attention because of such a disputable issue in its title. The author tries to explain why religion stays so important in our age and why it's once again political central stage. The main reason he finds in building and  maintaining communities. Religious people are  less about escapism or consolation, than about hope. They find shelter being in churches, mosques or temples. "We tell ourselves stories in order to live " , - says Joan Didion; and such stories are made to bring a kind of significance to people's life.  I guess, this article shows a religion not as something that makes person to obey it and kill for it; but something that encourages to believe the best and live better. That's why I'd recommend to consult this article.
